Sometimes the Goddess
Is an old lady and a little girl/ A queen and a perimenopausal, middle-aged teenager
Sometimes the Goddess
Has back fat and owes back taxes
Tucks her skirt into her underwear on accident
Studies herself in the mirror, and asks who’s that?
Can’t wear last year’s pants
Sometimes the Goddess
Thinks weeds are the holiest offerings
Wears strangers’ wedding rings
Has to patch holes in her force field
Leaves the house with her big heart
but forgets her big shield
Sometimes the Goddess
Gets lost on Mount Olympus
Has a crush on Dionysus
Used to have a BFF named Isis
Says dumb things to Osiris
Is obsessed with the wrong Gods and Goddesses
Sometimes the Goddess
Rubs her own heart with sandpaper
Spills coffee all over her most important papers
Shops for ballroom dresses at the thrift store
Covers herself in cat hair and dog fur
Sometimes the Goddess
Is an old lady and a little girl
A queen and a perimenopausal, middle-aged teenager
Reads trashy fantasy romance novels to balance out her
fancy literature degree from a 4-year college
Sometimes the Goddess
Snores
Is called a dirty whore
Has breasts the size of boulders
Carries the world on her broken shoulders
Sometimes the Goddess
Falls asleep watching Netflix
Dreams of Holy Sacraments
Pieces the shattered world back together
Sings sad songs until life feel better
Sometimes the Goddess
Takes offense at humanity’s disasters
Forgets she has superpowers
Falls in love with monsters and mortals
Resents religion, piety, and tradition
Forgets to use her indoor voice
Takes really, really bad advice
Sometimes the Goddess
Gets lost in an enchanted wood
But also her own suburban neighborhood
Forgets her manners
Knows powerful spells but trips and stammers
Sometimes the Goddess
Nails it
Hits it on the head
Impales it
Struts her stuff
Jiggles her hips
Shakes that Ass
Shines it
Glows it
Sometimes the Goddess
Throws off her clothes
Makes love to the moon
Seduces the Sun
Knows it
Trusts it
Owns it

“As always, Valley provides an atmosphere of safety to those of us have stories to tell. In my years of writing with her, I have learned to love and forgive myself, the messes I have made and the love I receive with an open heart. Thank you, Valley, who shares herself and teaches us how to be.” —Chaya

Self-care is an act of holy rebellion. In a hyper-busy world focused on productivity, output, and profit, creating sacred space for ourselves enables us to listen to the quiet voice within. When we are in touch with our intuition, we are in touch with the divine. When we are in touch with the divine, we are able to access inspiration and resources that were not present before.
Join me for an afternoon of ritual and writing, connection, and deep internal exploration. Learn to care for yourself so beautifully that you have the energy and reserves to care for others.
